015 Railway Street

015 Ruins and dilapidated buildings, Railway Street

This photograph is one of those taken by W.J. Joyce in 1913 to illustrate the dreadful living conditions in Dublin. Railway Street was originally called Lower Tyrone Street and was part of the notorious “Monto” area, which was said to be the largest red light district in Europe at the time.
