006 Lower Bridge Street
'The burning Four Courts as seen from the gun emplacement at the foot of Lower Bridge Street. It was from this point that the breach was created in the western wing, through which, with no serious loss of life, the National troops contrived to set foot in the besieged building and clear the Irregulars from the western wing. This photograph was taken some moments after the mighty explosion which destroyed the Records Office The repeated shocks shattered the building visible in the foreground, fracturing the pier which supported the corner. Fortunately, the building did not collapse, as it threatened to do'. ('Ireland's Tragic Week', p. 5).
