008 City Hall
'Armoured cars outside the City Hall. It is impossible to over-estimate the value of these weapons. Their strength, mobility, impermeability to bullets, and the vigorous offence that can be made by them was the principal cause of the breakdown of the revolt in the centre of the city. It is probable that, without these cars, a decisive encounter would never have occurred in Dublin, and that the casualties among the National forces would be enormous. The cars are here seen setting off for the Four Courts'. ('Ireland's Tragic Week', p. 6)
