Business 012

Peterson

Friedrich and Heinrich Kapp, of German origin, had established Kapp Brothers at 53 Grafton Street by 1866, providing everything a man could desire in the way of tobacco, and the added luxury of a billiard and smoking room on the premises much frequented by the jeunesse dore  of Dublin, according to The Industries of Dublin.   The Peterson involvement began slightly later, when the master pipe-maker, Charles Peterson, originally from Riga, came to Dublin and with the Kapps established a pipe-making enterprise at 113 St Stephen’s Green. The Kapp and Peterson shop in Grafton Street has now closed down, but Peterson pipes continue to be made in Dublin right up to the present day.
