LF01-01 Wedding Gown

LF01-01 Wedding Gown

The beautiful wedding gown pictured dates to around 1891. The sweeping plain tulle (very fine netting) veil is fastened with diamond ornaments and orange blossoms to the young woman's head. The veil itself gives her an elegance fit for a royal, while the garment's high shoulders elongate the body, especially the torso. The dress is made of satin, which accents its simple design. Quite plain in the skirt, the long corset of the corsage was cut in rather narrow tabs, while the sleeves were made of slightly puffed chiffon. She also wore a long scarf of the same filling in the upper part of the corsage. To finish off the ensemble, around her neck hangs a string of superb diamonds and a butterfly brooch of the same stone which confined the chiffon scarf.
