Can we help you with your job search?

Job searchAnother success story...

Have you visited the Business Information Centre, Central Library recently? If not, you may not know that we have been running a series of 18 Career & Development workshops from January 2010 - December 2011, with 3 more planned for January, February and March of this year.

We sourced different expert Career Coaches from around the country, to give these presentations. We liased with these coaches and asked them to tailor these talks towards the positive aspects of searching for work.

Our goal was to cater for the unemployed, the job seeker, the interviewee who found it difficult to search out work. With in excess of 275,000 unemployed and 436,936 on the live register when this series was originally envisaged (Jan, 2010) and with many companies closing on a monthly basis, a bleak future lay ahead for many. This initiative, we felt, would greatly help those who found themselves in this state.

To date, 784 have attended with very positive feedback being received.

A flavour of the subjects included were:

  • Job Hunting in a Tight Market, How to be a Proactive Jobseeker On and Offline
  • Job Hunting –Creative ways to increase your visibility and land more opportunities
  • Are You a Professional and Currently Unemployed? Job Hunting –what if there isn’t anything out there to apply for?
  • Managing Your Finances Through Difficult Times
  • Support and Coping Skills in times of change, recession and / or unemployment
  • Do Ghairm le Gaeilge –Career Options Using the Irish Language
  • Using Social Networking to Access the Hidden Jobs Market
  • The Hardest work in the World is being without work; Learn how to put a successful career plan in place to find the job you want
  • Interviews – Get that Job in 2012; Learn how to interview successfully to get the job you want

If you are interested in participating in the next workshop entitled "How to get and keep the job you want" on Thursday, February 23rd, you can reserve a place by contacting the Business Information Centre, Central Library, Ilac Shopping Centre, Dublin 1 or phone 00353 1 8733996.

Why not browse a selection of reference books on employment in the Business Library?

Remember all these talks are free of charge and well worth attending!
